Artistseeking Attention: This October, Hwb y Gors is excited to welcome artists Pip Woolf and Kirsty Claxton for a two-week creative residency.
Pip Woolf, an artist from Brecon, describes her practice as one that “begins from where I am, takes on the materials to hand and leads me to new places.” Working alongside Bristol-based visual artist and curator Kirsty Claxton, the pair will transform the Hwb into an open creative studio, exploring ideas, stories and connections rooted in the local community.
Throughout their residency, Pip and Kirsty invite local people to join them each weekday afternoon between 3.30pm and 5.00pm. This is an opportunity to drop in, meet the artists, share your thoughts, experiences and creativity, and become part of a larger collaborative artwork.
At the heart of the project is a simple question: Who are you? Pip and Kirsty want to learn more about the community that surrounds and supports Hwb y Gors, creating space for local voices, ideas and experiences to shape the work as it develops.
The residency will conclude with a public exhibition and celebration on Thursday 22 October, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, where everyone is invited to come and see the finished work and discover how the community has contributed to the creative journey.
No booking required. All welcome.
