Community Mural – Tile Making Workshop

A vibrant new mosaic mural will soon brighten a wall at Hwb y Gors, as we come together to celebrate the stories, history, and heart of the valley.

Come along to create hand made and shaped tiles to be used in the Mural. Jacky from Carmel Pottery and will guide you through everything you need to know to create these wonderful tiles.

The story so far… During a series of design workshops in September, we created a fantastic mural design. This design takes inspiration from 1912—the year the building was first opened as a school. It features much-loved local historical landmarks such as the Woollen Mill, Cresci’s Ice Cream Shop, Cwmgors Colliery and Brickworks and other glimpses of life from that era.

Now it’s time to bring this incredible design to life — and you can be part of it!

Free Community Mosaic Workshops are open to everyone aged 14 and over. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a complete beginner, you’ll find these sessions fun, relaxed, and welcoming.

What to Expect at a Mosaic Workshop

Fun, Friendly, and Inclusive: No artistic skills or experience are necessary! Dani Lee and her team will guide you through every step of the process, helping you to create something truly special alongside your neighbours.

All Materials Provided – Clay and tools are all supplied.

Join Anytime: Workshops will be running throughout this winter, so you can join whenever you’d like to.
