Wild About Film!

Monthly screenings to spark conversation and inspire action through the power of cinema

Welcome to Wild About Film! Our film programme explores the challenges and opportunities shaping our world, covering themes from food and fashion to travel, nature, and animal welfare. Each screening is followed by an open discussion with guest speakers, creating a space for fresh perspectives and practical ideas.

Wild About Film events take place on the last Wednesday of the month starting at 6.30pm. You can order food and drinks for the interval from our cafe on arrival.

Thank you to those who came along to our informal meeting in July. We had a great discussion about how our film programme had gone to date and shared our highlights. There were some really good suggestions for making the events friendlier, encouraging more chat, growing publicity and building new audiences. We talked about ideas for themes and films – there was interest in films looking at Community versus Corporation, Artificial Intelligence and Boycott campaigns. We have consulted with our friends at The UK Green Film Network and are starting to build a new list of potential future films. In the meantime, we wanted to focus a couple of films on the theme of ‘wonder’ and the natural world, to balance the campaigning films that featured in our Spring season. News to follow…

Coming up this Autumn:

We are grateful to Ffilm Cymru Wales and Film Hub Wales for funding our inaugural Wild About Film season. Watch an episode of Georgina’s Wonderful Welsh Cinema Journeys below, filmed when Ffilm Cymru Wales came to visit us at the Hwb.

We have been generously gifted professional film screening equipment by the former Monico Movies at Rhiwbina Community Cinema, with the support of Film Hub Wales.
