Community Mural – Mosaic Workshops
A vibrant new mosaic mural will soon brighten a wall at Hwb y Gors, as we come together to celebrate the stories, history, and heart of the valley. Come along to create large mosaic sections that will join together to create this amazing mural. Dani from Dani Lee Arts will guide you through everything you need to know to create this wonderful mosaic mural. The story so far… During a series of design workshops in September, we created a fantastic mural design. This design takes inspiration from 1912—the year the building was first opened as a school. It features much-loved local historical landmarks such as the Woollen Mill, Cresci’s Ice Cream Shop, Cwmgors Colliery and Brickworks and other glimpses of life from that era. Now it’s time to bring this incredible design to life — and you can be part of it! Free Community Mosaic Workshops are open to everyone aged 14 and over. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a complete beginner, you’ll find these sessions fun, relaxed, and welcoming. What to Expect at a Mosaic Workshop

Using freshly cut, unseasoned wood, you'll have the opportunity to whittle and create a variety of items such as shrink pots, mallets, wooden toys, and plenty more. Richard's expert guidance will help you develop your woodworking skills, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your techniques. Each workshop is a chance to connect with nature, work with your hands, and take home your own handcrafted creations. Come and experience the satisfaction of making something beautiful and functional from greenwood.
